Banking and property
Cambodia is one of the few countries in the world that has not signed the Common Reporting Standard (CRS). What does this mean?
Acting in the light of the provisions of the CRS, the Bank is obliged to determine where its clients should pay taxes (which often involves determining their tax residence). If it turns out that the customer is a tax resident of a country other than the one where his bank accounts are held, the Bank provides such information to the local tax authorities.
The lack of CRS means that Banks in Cambodia do not report information about their customers to local tax authorities. This means that local tax authorities do not exchange information with tax institutions in the US or in Europe.
